Frequently Asked Questions
1. How do I start a plan?
Sign in and read each life planning area. Each life area page includes questions, thoughts and example goals to get you thinking about what you want/have always wanted to achieve in your life.
There are many types of goals:
- Short term and repetitive goals - e.g. 'Go to the gym 3 times a week'
- Longer duration goals - e.g. 'Learn a new language'
- Once off goals - e.g. 'Climb Mt Everest'
- Regularly repeating goals - e.g. 'Celebrate our wedding anniversary'
- Goal including others - e.g. 'Organise group skiing weekend'.
The range of your goals is limited only by your imagination. Put in anything you want to achieve. You can always change your mind later.
2. How long should my plan be?
Your plan can be as long or as short as you want. You can plan 1 year ahead, or up to 50 years into the future.
3. How many goals can I have?
You can make as many goals as you like; the planning tool has no goal limit. It's a good idea to consider how far into your future you feel comfortable planning. If you want to stretch yourself and think about your long term future, add 10 or 20 years to your time frame.
4. What if my goals change?
Life changes, and so do your needs and wants. So you can change your plan at any time, and as often as you like. Simply login to the Plan to Live Life Planner and edit your plan.
5. How many people can be included in my plan?
As many as you like. Identify each person by his or her initials before each goal, e.g. TK: Swim twice a week. The planning tool can sort your goals alphabetically, by frequency, cost or date.
6. How do I work out the best time frame for my goal?
It's very common to get all excited about achieving your goals and cram them all into a short space of time. Start by adding your goals to the Life Planner, and then review the time frames. You'll probably find that you'll change things around to suit your needs, and to realistically achieve them!
7. How do I find out the cost of my goals?
By doing research. Try searching on the Internet, call suppliers, speak to friends, etc. Do you want to go skydiving? Type 'skydiving' into your Internet search engine and browse skydiving company websites. Remember, the prices of products and services change over time, so review your plan regularly to adjust any costs.
8. What if I have a lot of goals in some areas, but not in others?
It's your life, so only you know the areas of your life needing improvement. You can pick and choose individual life areas to plan, or you can purchase planning access to all 7 life areas.
If you are unsure how to develop your goals in specific life areas, try looking at the example goals or the 'most popular' goals list.
9. I have completed my plan. What can I do next?
Your finished life plan will list your goals in priority order, so now you can select the goals you want to work on first. Here are some tips for getting started:
- Find a life coach to work with you and support you in achieving your goal(s)
- Create a vision board of images and statements that inspire you towards your goals
- Share your life plan and goals with your family and friends
- Discuss your life plan and goals with a financial planner.
